Luis Congdon:

All right, so you want to have more peace, have less stress, and you want to learn how to meditate.

In this video, I’m going to teach you some very simple strategies for meditation to increase the peace and happiness in your life.

Hi! My name is Luis Congdon, co-owner of Thriving Launch business, and the Thriving Launch Podcast where we interview leading experts in business, meditation, mindfulness, consciousness, you name it.

We’re interviewing the top experts, and today, I want to talk to you about knowing how to learn to meditate and do so in a very simple fashion.

To Learn How To Meditate Is Simple

One of the first things I want to tell you about meditation is it doesn’t have to be difficult, and it can be simple.

In fact, a lot of people like Hugh Jackman, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Richard Branson, and a variety of people have incorporated meditation into their lives, and it has increased their level of success, peace, and ability to even get more done.

When I first got into meditation, I thought it was going to be something complex, but I sat down with this idea of I’m going to experience what Buddha had. Now, I had read about Buddha and I had this idea of what he had experienced so I sat down in my chair having no idea how to meditate at that time. I just had heard some things and read some books, but I didn’t know how to meditate in the official way.

I sat down in a chair, crossed my legs, closed my eyes, and just followed my breath. That completely changed my life.

Learn How To Meditate To Be At Peace

That experience brought me into this realm of serenity and peace, and for a period of nearly two months, I felt like the whole world was filled with love, and I felt very peaceful. Nothing had changed. I still had the stresses of money, work, girlfriend, and everything you can imagine that life gives you stress for.

I still had all the stresses, but for some reason, I felt completely at peace.

Here’s what I did.

I sat down, closed my eyes, and just followed my breath, and that’s what I want to recommend to you.

When I sat down for the very first time to meditate, I wasn’t officially trained in meditation. I didn’t know anything about following your breath or how to do that. I didn’t know Kriyas.

I didn’t know all the complicated stuff that I know now about meditation, but I sat down with this idea of I’m going to experience what the Buddha did. I’m going to experience this peace, and I want to try it out. What is meditation?

I sat down in some ways that I thought would be comfortable in this chair, and I just closed my eyes, and I followed my breath. Then, something magical happened to me. It was like I disappeared.

Learn How To Meditate To Feel Completely Blissed Out

For a period of about two months thereafter, after this meditation experience, I felt completely blissed out. I was happy, life felt simple, and I felt like there was so much beauty around me.

Now, you might not have this experience, but let me tell you. Meditation has been a center of my life ever since then.

I know that people like Hugh Jackman, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Richard Branson, Oprah, and many other people practice meditation because it can do something phenomenal for us.

Meditation doesn’t have to be complicated and in fact, I suggest we make it very simple.

Here’s one of the ways I suggest that you take up meditating.

Learn How To Meditate – Sit Down Comfortably

Sit down somewhere comfortable. Don’t cross your arms and your legs. Just sit down in a comfortable position, maybe you have a backrest behind you, and just close your eyes. I’m going to do that for a moment with you.

I’m going to close my eyes and imagine we’re sitting down, and then I’m just going to breathe. I’m going to follow the inhalation up my sinuses from the tip of my nose, up through, and down to my throat, down to my lungs, and then I’m going to follow it as goes out, and that is it. It’s very simple.

Learn How To Meditate – Follow Your Breath

When we get into meditation practices and start reading books, and all the things out there, we’re going hear stuff like “Silence your mind” or “Empty yourself of thoughts” and all that stuff is very down, very zen, and is very beautiful, but when you’re first starting, I highly recommend you just close your eyes, and just pay attention to your breath, and that is it. Nothing complicated about trying to learn how to meditate, and in fact it’s said that the Buddha went into enlightenment just by following his breath.

Just follow your breath. Meditation can be very simple. It can be wonderful, and you don’t have to start doing 20-minute meditations, 30-minute meditations. You can make it a minute. You can make it two minutes.

Learn How To Meditate – Start With One-Minute Blocks

In fact, I highly recommend you start with one-minute blocks, and build up to two minutes, build up to three minutes, whatever feels good for you, but start simple.

We’ve talked about some ways that you can start incorporating meditation into your life, and even the benefits. Just by sharing this with you and going into that state myself, I started to feel more at peace and more relaxed in my own body. Start doing what I’ve suggested on how you start to learn how to meditate.
