Today, I want to teach you How To Create A Podcast and overcome any barriers that you have to record your podcast. One of those obstacles that a lot of people have is their voice.

On today’s episode, I’m going to talk to you about your voice and help you overcome any resignations that you have around your voice and how to create a podcast.

All right, Thriving Launchers. Welcome to another awesome day where we’re going to talk more about how to create a podcast.

Today, I want to speak to you about your voice. A lot of people when they think about podcasting, they’re worried about their voice, and they take it way too seriously. So today, I want to give you some tips.

One of the first things I want you to realize when it comes to How To Create A Podcast is everybody’s afraid of their voice. I’ve yet to meet a person that wasn’t hesitant to hear their voice or had some resignation about public speaking or having their voice heard on TV, or being in a play, or whatever it might be.

Here’s the deal. When you’re looking at How To Create A Podcast, you’re recording something that people don’t have super high expectations of you. So, you don’t have to get voice training. You don’t have to worry about any of that. You don’t need a fancy microphone. We’re going to be discussing more and more about sound and tech.

You don’t need a lot of fancy equipment. People don’t have crazy expectations of you, and here’s the cool thing. While you record, it’s like you’re talking to someone. You just speak into a microphone, and you don’t have to listen to your voice. It’s like speaking to someone else. Right now, I’m having a conversation with you about being comfortable with your voice while you record.

If you’re worried at all about your voice or what you might say during a podcast interview, one of the tips I recommend is prepare. Be prepared. Plan ahead for How To Create A Podcast.

For example, today, I took some notes about what I wanted to talk to you. I have them right here on my computer, so I can just go through them. As I’m speaking to you, I’m looking at bullet points of things that I’m going to go through with you.

When you look at How To Create A Podcast interview with a guest, sometimes I like to pre-script some questions that I’ll have so that if for some reasons I draw blank during an interview, which doesn’t happen to me very often but if it does, I can just look right there on the screen and boom! Just pull out one of those questions.

So you don’t have to be worried about not having something interesting to say or concerned about your voice. People aren’t going to be judging it, and most people are going to admire you for the fact that you have a podcast, that you’re willing to speak and share a message and put it out there for the world to listen.

A big thing that I want you to realize is that there isn’t some crazy expectation that you’d be perfect in this. In fact, podcast listeners are very chill when it comes to their expectations of what they’re getting. Because some of the biggest podcast in the world, people are bringing portable microphones to record. People are using their phones, their tablets, and their computers.

How To Create A Podcast Without Being Perfect

Many of us, who are podcasters, aren’t sound technicians. We’re not people who are honed in on audio. What we are is people who have a message and want to share something with the world or want to do interviews and help the messages of other people get out there bigger and further, and into the hands of more people.

In all regards, listeners aren’t listening with some big expectations that your show be perfect. Tim Ferris’s podcast, for example, it’s one of the greatest shows around. For sound sets, inception has had terrible sound. It’s not that excellent audio, and that’s the case with a lot of different shows.

The other thing to if you think that you need to be a well-honed speaker, just look at me. I’m not a super well-honed speaker. I love chatting with people. I love talking to people. I present on stages, but I’ve worked very hard to get there.

When I first started podcasting, I wasn’t there. It was new for me, but I got out there. I did a lot of recordings. I just started recording, started doing interviews, and I was amazed by the response of people, of listeners, of potential clients, leads, and customers. It transformed my life.

If I would’ve stayed hung up on the idea that I didn’t have something interesting to say or I might get hung-up on what I might ask my guest, or that my voice didn’t sound great and perfect, then I may have never had the amazing experience of recording something. I may never have released it to the world, and find out that a lot of people want to hear what you have to say. A lot of people enjoy your voice despite the fact that you might judge it or have an opinion about it. Don’t worry about that.

Just start recording and trust me. You will get better at recording and at speaking into the microphone. You’ll become better at asking interesting questions, engaging, even hosting a show where you don’t even bring a guest. It’s just you and some notes you’ve taken, and maybe some questions that people have written. It’s all possible.

The other thing about having your show is it’s your creative endeavor. You can release it as often as you want. Podcast episodes can be as long as you want. You can talk as much or as little as you want. You can bring on guests. You can do all sorts of things with your show.

Realize that if you’re worried about your voice, you could do a podcast based on interviews. You could do a podcast where other people ask you questions. So you have a guest and maybe you pre-script the show so you’re prepared and you know how you’re going to answer it.

Just realize this is your creative endeavor, and a lot of podcasters are people who just have a computer, a microphone, and passion, and idea. Then there are a lot of individuals who have a business and want to share their message. There are a lot of people who have a story and want to share that story.

But across the board, most people with podcast shows aren’t exceptionally well with their audio. They’re not incredible when it comes to feeling they’re honed with their voice, their message, and all of that but none of that matters. The most important thing is you start recording.
