On this episode, we’re going to be talking about the advantages of outsourcing, and how to start it.
Luis Congdon
Hey there, Thriving Launchers. Today, we’re going to talk about advantages of outsourcing and why you should do it.
Kamala, why should you outsource?
Many Advantages Of Outsourcing
Kamala Chambers
There are many advantages of outsourcing. Big part of it is we have an opportunity to work less and have other people support us so we can spend more time doing the things we love.
I always thought I couldn’t afford a team, that it would be too much money, and that maybe I wasn’t making enough money in my business to justify hiring a team.
But when I hired the team, it was the greatest thing I ever did for my business. It was making that change and then, starting a podcast, of course.
Advantages Of Outsourcing – Having The Support Of People Around You
Having a team, you have the support of individuals around you to focus on the things that maybe you don’t love doing, and then you can spend more time doing the things that bring in money for your business and the things you’re talented at.
Luis Congdon
Yeah.
I know I used to spend a lot of time editing podcast episodes, trying to create some graphics, learning the software to create graphics, writing posts, and creating all the SEO for it.
Advantages Of Outsourcing – Gives You The Chance To Focus On Your Zone Of Genius
That was very time-consuming. It was challenging for me. It required a lot of research and, no matter how many times I’ve done the stuff with the WordPress website, I’m just not good at it, or I’m not naturally inclined. It’s not my gift. It’s not my zone of genius.
I hope you guys can relate to that term, the zone of genius because that’s something I think is important in business.
Just in life. It is doing the things that are in your zone of inspiration, enthusiasm, things you love doing, and if it’s not in that area, finding a way to give that away. Give that to someone else, and find someone who doesn’t charge anywhere as much as you might charge if you were spending that hour doing something else.
Advantages Of Outsourcing – Allows You To Do Things That Bring More Profit To Your Business
Let’s say, you charge 20 bucks an hour, and you spend two – three hours trying to learn how to use Canva and WordPress. You could potentially be on calls with clients or prospecting clients if that’s your thing, or emailing people and drumming up business. That’s where I’m good, and that’s where I shine.
And so, it’s a lot better for me to spend those two or three hours not on WordPress, not on Canva, and other kinds of software, but instead, doing the things I’m good at that make our business more. So then, I might make a couple of hundred dollars or a thousand dollars in those few hours, and someone else for five, ten, seven dollars an hour or something can do those other tasks. And so, it breaks down to cost and profits, and labor.
Kamala, I’m curious from you.
Overcome The Fear Of Handing Over A Task To Enjoy The Advantages Of Outsourcing
How do we get over the fear of handing off a task to someone else?
We have this desire. I know I have this desire to give tasks away. But I have this fear that someone’s not going to do it as well as I do or put effort into it that I will or care about it as much as I do because this is my thing, this is my business, this the thing I feel like has to get done.
How do I get to that place where I can just hand it off and feel okay giving it away? I mean, it’s difficult.
Kamala Chambers
Yeah, that’s probably the biggest struggle. It’s “What if I hand this over to someone and they mess up?” or “They don’t do it as well as I will.”
When you take your whole system, try to get someone to be who you are, be a second you and have all your gifts, and have all your skills, you’re setting yourself up to lose.
Break Down Tasks Into Steps To Experience The Advantages Of Outsourcing
What I’m suggesting here is to take specific tasks and break those down into steps.
In that way, there is a bunch of different people operating as a gear in an entire machine, so nobody has your whole system. Nobody can do everything that you can do, but every person you hire has their specific task to manage.
An example of this is maybe you have the social graphics that need to be created every single week.
Now, what goes into creating those social media graphics?
First, you have to make sure that it stays true to your brand, so you want to use specific fonts or colors. You also want to ensure the graphic has particular dimension. It needs to be done by this date.
Advantages Of Outsourcing – Others Can Do A Task Better Than You
It’s because that is their sole focus for their work. It is just to concentrate on those social media graphics.
Whereas, maybe you are creating graphics here, running your website, putting out blog posts, hosting podcast episodes, trying to get clients, and all of the different things that go into running a business.
I know it can be intimidating and overwhelming. I just encourage you to take these smaller tasks, break them down into processes, and hand those specific processes off to people, so you don’t have to be spending your time doing that.
Advantages Of Outsourcing – Have Other People Do Tasks The Consume Most Time And Energy
A good place to start is to look at the things that are taking the most amounts of your time, focus, and energy. Then, look at what the actual steps are that go into creating those things, to making those things happen.
Because then, you can start to free up so much more of your time because if you take those top three things you’re putting your time into, if it’s email, then hire someone just to check your email and sort through your email for you. This kind of things can just free up so much of your time, energy, and ultimately help you become successful.
Luis Congdon
That’s great Kamala, and are there any other advantages of outsourcing you’d like to mention before we wrap up here?
Try Hiring Someone And Enjoy The Advantages Of Outsourcing
Kamala Chambers
I just can’t recommend it enough. I encourage you to go out and at least try to hire someone that is going to be able to take over one task for you. Try it out. It can be low cost. You can end up spending less than $10 an hour. We’re going to include some resources in the show notes because we want you to have what you need to go out and start hiring someone right away.
Luis Congdon
All right, guys. There you have it.
It Is Possible To Experience The Advantages Of Outsourcing
They’re some advantages of outsourcing. More than anything, I hope that from today’s take away, you got the idea that you can outsource. You can start small if you want, and that it is possible regardless of where you’re at in your business.
Over on the website, we’re going to have some great stuff for you that shows you where you can hire people for two, three dollars an hour, and you can hire them for a couple of hours a week, and help you guys get started.
As well as upcoming, we’re going to be doing more episodes on outsourcing and giving you guys some tutorials on how to outsource. So you can build that team or just have that one person, get more work done, make your life easier, start making more money as well, and have your business reach and impact more people.
We’ll see you on the website. Until then, keep thriving.
